Overview

The Congregation of St. Gemma Sisters of Dodoma (CSG) is a Roman Catholic religious

community founded on September 14, 1947, in Kondoa, Tanzania. Inspired by the spirituality

and life of St. Gemma Galgani, an Italian mystic, the congregation is dedicated to living out the

charism of "Thirst for Love and Suffering" through works of mercy, compassion, and service to

the marginalized. The sisters are involved in various apostolates in Tanzania and internationally,

including healthcare, education, pastoral ministry, and social services.

The congregation's mission is deeply rooted in the Passionist spirituality, emphasizing mercy,

compassion, and a union with the suffering Christ. With over 300 sisters, the congregation

operates educational institutions, healthcare facilities, and social outreach programs,

significantly impacting the communities they serve.
